Sesame Street in the Zoom Room

I’ve been watching a lot of Sesame Street lately. Perhaps it’s because I live with a two year old. That could be part of it.

But also, I’ve been watching through the lens of a workshop facilitator. I’m learning some great lessons! And no, not just that sharing is good and that Cookie Monster should probably be drinking more water. The lesson i’m learning is all about curiosity.

One of the hardest lessons to teach an adult, is to teach them to be more curious about their world. I don’t have to tell you this, but as we get older, things get harder. Work drains us, relationships become complex, our bodies slow down. We start to lose the child-like spark that puts us in a sense of wonder as we move through the world.

But there are ways to fight back!

The Sesame Street method for generating a curiosity mindset is three simple prompts.

I Wonder…

What if…

Let’s Try!

What is something you wonder about? Something that puts you in a sense of awe.

What if that thing was somehow different?

What small experiment can you try to test your “what if” assumption?

Now it’s your turn, what can you run through this method to help cultivate your curiosity today?
